Our workmanship is guaranteed for ten years from the day the job is signed off. This page says exactly what that covers, what it does not, and what you have to do to rely on it, because a guarantee whose terms only appear once you try to use it is not worth having.
What the ten years covers
Everything the installation itself is responsible for. In practice that means water getting in at the perimeter of a unit we fitted: the upstand, the flashings and soakers, the way the covering was terminated against the frame, the laps, and the seal between frame and structure. It covers the structural opening we formed, the trimming around it, and the internal finish where we made good.
It also covers the things that follow from those details going wrong. Condensation traced to a vapour control layer we specified and installed incorrectly is our problem, not yours, even though it presents months later and looks like a leak.
If any of that fails inside ten years, we come back and put it right at no cost to you. That includes access, materials, labour and making good afterwards. There is no call-out fee and no excess.
The units themselves
The rooflight is a manufactured product and carries its own warranty from whoever made it. VELUX, Fakro, Keylite and Roto all offer their own terms, typically ten years on the sealed unit against misting and a shorter period on moving parts and electrical components. We register the warranty in your name on completion and hand you the documentation.

Where a unit fails under the manufacturer’s warranty, we handle the claim. You should not be the one arguing with a manufacturer about a product we chose and fitted. Our labour in taking out the failed unit and installing the replacement is covered by our guarantee for the full ten years, which is the part manufacturers’ terms usually exclude.
What it does not cover
Being plain about this now is fairer than being plain about it later.
It does not cover the rest of your roof. If water enters through a slipped tile four metres from the unit, or through a stack, or a valley we never touched, that is a roofing matter and we do not undertake roofing work. We will tell you what we can see and where the water is actually coming from, at no charge, because knowing that is worth something.
It does not cover damage from storm, impact, fire, subsidence, or anybody else working on the roof afterwards. If another trade lifts our flashings to run a cable, whatever follows is theirs.
It does not cover a unit that has never been maintained. Rooflights need cleaning and their drainage channels need keeping clear, which takes minutes a year and is set out in the handover pack.
It does not cover finishes wearing as finishes do: timber frames needing recoating on schedule, or blinds and controls reaching the end of their service life.
How to use it
Email info@heritageskylightsoxford.co.uk with the address and roughly what is happening. You do not need a document number and you do not need to have kept the paperwork, because we hold the job record ourselves for the life of the guarantee plus a year. That is why the record is kept, and it is why the privacy policy says so.

We aim to have somebody look within five working days, and sooner where water is actively coming in. Where water is entering, the immediate priority is stopping it, and we do that before anybody discusses whose responsibility it is.
If the house is sold
The guarantee runs with the roof, not with the person who paid for it. Tell us the completion date and the new owner’s name and we will transfer the record. There is no fee and no form. A guarantee that dies when you move is a guarantee designed not to be used.
Why ten years
A rooflight installation that is going to fail on its detailing usually fails within three winters, because it takes driven rain from an unhelpful direction to find a short lap. Ten years is comfortably beyond that, and long enough that guaranteeing it is a commitment rather than a marketing line. It is also why we hold a narrow scope: standing behind an installation for a decade is only sensible if installation is the thing you do all day.
